Control Your Life or Live in “Auto Pilot”

Some years ago in America, the country was stunned as the details of a most unusual airplane accident which was yet to happen started to unfold. It was an event still regarded as unique in the annals of American Aircraft Accidents. A well known college football coach was travelling in a private jet from mid-west to the east coast, that is the New York side of the country.

It soon became evident to ground controllers that the plane was not flying according to its designated path and the pilot was not responding to any communication from ground staff. Ultimately, a military jet was scrambled to observe, and if necessary, intercept the aircraft which was flying at height and in areas which demonstrated a complete disregard for air traffic regulations.

Wat was learnt was the pilot and passenger were unconscious and the plane was fling on Auto Pilot. The plans continued to fly right out past the coast until it ran out of fuel, and then it simple fell out of the sky!

Sadly, this is also a reflection of the lives of many people today. They are in a sort of “Auto Pilot” and have lost consciousness to life and living, meaning and purpose. It is as though life is on “Auto Pilot” and so much is just executed without depth of meaning or passion or excitement. Words without meaning, actions without passion, characterise much of out living.

So, where are you on the flight path?
